Why the fuse panel lives under the back seat
The battery is already there. With the body off, the whole harness goes in the way it should.
The Bug's battery sits under the rear seat, so the main fuse can sit within inches of it and the heavy cables stay short.
- Everything runs off relays. The dash switches only carry trigger current back to the panel.
- Front loads get fused feeds forward: headlights, horn, fuel pump and the dash electronics.
- A cover over everything. The seat springs must never touch the battery or the panel.
- Off the floor. The floor under the back seat can get wet.
- Ground straps. With the body off the pan, they're two separate parts: body to chassis, and engine to chassis.
With the body off, every run goes in conduit, with grommets at every pass through metal and spare pull strings front to back.
