Safari windows and pop-outs: fit before paint
Test-fit the safari frames with the body off and weld any tabs before primer.
Safari front and rear windows plus pop-out rear side windows turn the Bug into a flow-through car.
- Fit before paint. Some kits want their slider tabs welded on. Weld before primer, not after.
- The front glass must be windshield glass: laminated and marked AS1 with a DOT number, as far as I know. Not legal advice.
- The top of the windshield frame gets crowded. The safari frame, the mirror mount and the ragtop's front edge all meet there.
- The pop-outs bolt in after paint.
